Mass production of "China Core" industrial robots in Wuhan will not cause large-scale unemployment

The reporter learned from the Wuhan Industrial Robot Technology Exchange Conference that Wuhan's first "purely made" industrial robot has entered mass production.

The hardest and most tiring work is done, but it is hard-working and meticulous. In the future, such a good "employee" will be produced in large numbers in China. Yesterday, the reporter saw this scene in the production workshop of Wuhan Fenjin Power Technology Co., Ltd.: a row of "robots" painted in red paint, constantly moving back and forth, repeating the prescribed actions. Different from the imaginary human form and exquisite appearance, these robots seem to be more called "mechanical arms", they all have a "Chinese core."

“From inside to outside, from hardware to software, including core components such as reducers and control systems, our industrial robots have their own intellectual property rights and belong to 'China Core'.” General Manager of Wuhan Endeavour, Professor Xu Shuishui Said, "We are the first company in Wuhan to get through this road."

“In 2012, there were 29,000 new robots in the country, of which domestic brands accounted for only 4%, which is very poor.” Xu Shuishui said that most of the robot production is concentrated in four companies in Europe and Japan – Swiss abb, Germany Kuka and Japan's FANUC and Yaskawa Electric are known as the "Four Big Family", and most of their core technologies are in their hands.

According to Xu Shui, the core parts of the robot are the reducer, controller, servo motor, etc. Many "heart" parts cannot be produced domestically, and can only rely on imports, and some can't even buy them.

Xu Shui said that his team has completely broken through key technologies such as control systems and high-performance precision reducers. According to another introduction, in addition to the operating system, the software used by Xu Shui's robots, including editing tools, interfaces, and simulation software, is independently developed, and programming is even more flexible than foreign robots.

The core components are in the hands of foreign manufacturers, resulting in high prices for imported robots. The price of an industrial robot is more than 1 million yuan. Xu hits the water, saying that the cost of the "China Core" robot is 30%-60% lower than that of foreign products. The reason is not only the saving of a large patent fee, but also the positioning of the product. The company's current products are mainly used in low-end areas such as handling and palletizing. "These products work hard and do not require too much precision, so they are cheaper."

According to Xu Shui, the company took the market route of “urban encircling the city”. "The majority of industrial robots produced by international first-line manufacturers are used in automobile factories. For example, many Japanese automakers in Wuhan use Japanese robots. We will start from the low-end field where foreigners do not do it. User approval, and then slowly expand the product line to the high end."

Li Yongge, director of the Mechanical Equipment Department of the Municipal Economic and Information Committee, said that the industrial robot industry in Wuhan is still in its infancy, and “Endeavour” is the first enterprise in Wuhan that is completely “domestic” and enters the market.

The bookmaker rounded up the robot dream

Xu hit the water to do electricity, but there has always been a "robot dream."

In 1993, four young teachers from Wuhan Water Conservancy and Hydropower College (now merged with Wuhan University), Xu Shuishui and Zhang Zipeng, began to try to “go to the sea”. In 2001, they created Endeavour Power. Last year, their company's revenue reached 200 million, becoming a domestic leader in the field of "charged operations."

"We had the dream of doing robots 30 years ago. At the time, under the guidance of one of our teachers, I really made one."

It was a robot that rusted the water gate. "The gate is rust-removed, and it can't be scraped off with a knife. It's necessary to use a steel ball to smash it. If you can't stand it, you must wear a wetsuit. The idea of the robot at that time is quite advanced today. You can even teach it by hand. This is technically not easy.” Zhang Zipeng lamented that for various reasons, this result did not transform.

Since then, Xu hits the water and never forgets the robot. "China is a rare manufacturing power, and China's robots are seriously lagging behind, which is shocking and embarrassing." This year, Xu Bingshui finally rounded out his robot dream and made a batch of industrial robots. Next, he hopes to form a robot industry cluster in Wuhan to drive the development of intelligent manufacturing in Wuhan.

China will become the largest robot market

According to reports, since May this year, Endeavour has produced about 20 industrial robots, which have been sold out. Next year, the company's robot production value can exceed 100 million yuan.

At present, China's labor structure is changing, the “demographic dividend” has subsided, the labor force has decreased, and the demand for robots will show explosive growth.

According to the data, as of the end of 2012, China’s industrial robots were 101,000 units, and more than 20,000 units were added each year, second only to Japan, ranking second in the world. In 2014, China will surpass Japan and become the market with the largest demand for industrial robots. (Reporter Kang Peng)

Optics Valley Industrial Robots Form Industry Chain

Donghu High-tech Zone has more than 20 units engaged in the research and development, design, manufacture and downstream application of industrial robot technology products, and has formed an industrial chain.

In terms of research and development, Huazhong University of Science and Technology is leading domestically in the research of multi-dimensional industrial robots (handling, cleaning, painting, etc.) and exoskeleton-type rehabilitation medical robots. Wuhan University is strong in research on power-dedicated robots.

In terms of design and manufacturing, we have backbone enterprises such as Ende Power, Handy Robot, Huazhong CNC, Kaihui Intelligent.

For downstream applications, it has a number of representative enterprises such as Huagong Laser, Warwick Intelligence, MCC Southern Automation, Tianqi Laser, and Solidarity Laser.

Robots don't cause massive unemployment

Will the massive use of robots cause unemployment? Yesterday, Zhang Jianhua, a professor of industrial economics and a doctoral supervisor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, pointed out that the current use of industrial robots is sub-area and will not truly replace manpower.

Zhang Jianhua analyzed that industrial robots are currently concentrated in areas that are unsafe for humans, humans are unable to do their jobs, and more importantly, to replace human simple labor. He predicted that in the future, robots will gradually expand to the general manufacturing industry, such as the machining industry, the electrical and electronics industry, the rubber and plastics industry, the food industry, the wood and furniture manufacturing industries.

"The industry coverage of robots is becoming wider and wider, and it does not mean that it will replace all types of work." Zhang Jianhua pointed out that industrial robots are not universally used at present, so there is no need to worry that robots will cause massive unemployment.
