On January 5, 2016, ABB, the world's leading power and automation technology group, and China Shipping Container Lines Co., Ltd. Together with the existing service agreement, ABB will provide professional services for more than 300 turbochargers of CSCL. The number of devices enjoying the agreement service is the highest among ABB's global customers.
Based on turbocharger uptime, the service agreement provides customers with a more flexible and cost-effective service solution, including predictive services and pre-solving potential problems to reduce maintenance costs. By entrusting equipment maintenance to ABB, customers can focus on their own business operations while enjoying comprehensive new service tracking information.
The ABB database provides customers with specific parameters for their turbocharger model specifications and complete service tracking records. The service agreement also promises to provide customers with original spare parts to improve the reliability and safety of the turbocharged system.
Previously, ABB and China Shipping Container Lines signed two turbocharger service agreements in 2012 and 2014 respectively to provide maintenance services for their turbochargers. The signing of the contract marks a further solid development of the cooperation relationship between the two parties.
In addition to the three service agreements, CSCL also signed a Maintenance Management Agreement with ABB to meet the different needs of its turbocharger service operations, including the turbocharger on the "Global" container ship.
At the beginning of 2015, the first flight of the "Global" has a capacity of 19,100 standard containers. It is the world's largest container ship and the world's longest container ship in transit.
Wang Qingzhou, head of ABB's China Turbocharging Business Unit, stated: “It is important to understand the specific service needs of ABB customers, as one solution often does not meet all turbocharger application requirements.
China Shipping Container Lines has signed different agreements with us for the maintenance of 300 turbochargers. Our cooperation with CSCL has been developing steadily. The number of turbochargers covered by the agreement has increased by 22% per year, which fully demonstrates that long-term maintenance is also one of the top tasks for ship operators. ”
It is reported that ABB is a global leader in the production of turbochargers for diesel and gas engines with output powers above 500 kW. It is committed to helping customers improve efficiency and reduce emissions. More than 200,000 ABB turbochargers worldwide are widely used in marine power, land power plants, locomotive traction and non-road construction machinery.
Currently, ABB's Turbo Systems business unit has more than 100 service stations in more than 50 countries around the world to meet customer needs. Relying on this network, ABB is committed to delivering 98% of the spare parts required by customers within 48 hours. Currently, the ABB service agreement covers more than 15,000 turbochargers.
