Analyze the technological progress of the mold industry

According to the statistics of China Die and Mould Industry Association, China's total import and export of molds in 2009 was 3.807 billion US dollars, a decrease of 3.03% over the previous year. The total amount of imports was 1.964 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 2%; total exports were 1.843 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 4.11%.

According to the type of mold, the highest import and export is still plastic and rubber molds, accounting for 50.12% and 70.26% of the import and export volume respectively; followed by the stamping mold, which accounted for 42.42% and 22.07% of the import and export volume respectively.

According to the points of imported goods, the imported molds mainly come from Japan, South Korea, and Germany, followed by China Taiwan, the United States, Canada, Italy, Singapore, Denmark, and France; according to the export destination, the market for Chinese export molds is mainly Hong Kong, the United States, and Japan, followed by Germany, India, China Taiwan, France, Brazil, South Korea and Vietnam; according to the source of exports, the export molds mainly come from Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

According to the analysis of import and export mold prices, the average export price of stamping dies was 8894.5 US dollars in 2009, an increase of 13.5 percent over the previous year. The average price of export plastic rubber molds was 963 US dollars, an increase of 15.6 percent over the previous year. If compared with the import price, the ratio of import and export per ton of stamping dies is 1.8:1; the average ratio of imports and exports for plastics and rubber dies is 2.5:1. Compared with the previous year, the gap has narrowed significantly.

According to the analysis of the China Die and Mould Industry Association, from the above prices, the technical content and added value of China's export molds have risen over the previous year.
