Academician Xie Xincheng, deputy director of the Fund Committee, fully affirmed the project and hoped that the project made a breakthrough in the key technologies of ion chemistry research, and pointed out that the technical team is an important factor to ensure the smooth development of the project.
Academician Yang Xueming, Director of the Department of Chemistry and Science of the Fund Committee pointed out the difficulties that may be faced in the implementation of major instrument projects. He also hoped that the experts of the inspection team would provide opinions and suggestions on the development plan, project schedule, instrument site and guarantee conditions.
Professor Wu Kai, the project leader, introduced the research basis, construction plan and schedule, condition guarantee and risk assessment of the instrument. The leaders of the fund committee and the experts of the inspection team listened carefully to the project report and had a heated discussion with the project team members and the relevant management personnel of the supporting unit. They fully communicated on the scientific issues of the project, the development plan and the guarantee conditions of the supporting unit. . Subsequently, the inspection team also went to the relevant laboratory of the Institute of Chemistry to conduct a field trip.
Ion chemistry has a wide range of applications in chemistry, physics, materials and energy, including safe disposal of spent fuel, separation of nuclide, separation and purification of rare earths, ion batteries and their resource recovery, involving major national strategic needs. The ultra-high time-space resolved ion chemistry research system will study the solvation of ions, the microstructure of solvated ions, migration kinetics and electronic properties at the single ion level.
Through on-the-spot investigation, the expert group agreed that the development of the system will greatly enhance the level of scientific research in the field of ion chemistry in China, and open up new directions in ion chemistry, which is of great significance to the development of basic chemical science and related key technologies in China. The internationally unique advanced technology platform for ion chemistry research is unanimously recommended to start.
