VCU Develops Lithium Super Ionic Conductor: Promotes Solid-State Electrolyte Conductivity

According to foreign media reports, researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University (Virginia Commonwealth University, VCU) designed a new type of lithium superionic conductor with lithium ion conductivity comparable to organic electrolyte electrolytes.

They published a paper at the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). The researchers claimed in the paper that cluster-based lithium-ion superconductors have extremely high conductivity of 0.01 S / cm to 0.1 S / cm at room temperature and low activation energy of less than 0.210 eV with a band gap of 8.5 eV. In addition, its mechanical performance is extremely good, flexible, can inhibit the increase of lithium dendrites.
