Tenneco 's new large-engine selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system has received a Certificate of Product Design ( PDA ) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) . Product design evaluation certification conducted by American Bureau of Shipping includes key components for the selection of catalytic reduction systems, including complete metering and control systems, fuel injectors, load cells and human-machine interface (HMI) meta-distance monitoring devices to meet the US Certification of Catalyst and Reactor Hardware Configurations for Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA ) and International Maritime Organization ( IMO ) applications. Tenneco 's Selective Catalytic Reduction Aftertreatment System has a complete metering control solution for the 7,500 kW, or 10,000 hp marine engine application. The selective catalytic reduction system is designed to propel engines and auxiliary machines , meets EPA TierIV and International Maritime Organization Tier III regulations and can be designed with a patented high performance syringe, a precision mechatronic fluid delivery pump and Customized remote monitoring and control provides accurate and reliable liquid urea. Â Â Â Â In the past year, Tenneco has conducted a series of field tests designed to show how the system is constructed, installed, and operated. The test proves that the system can be easily integrated with the ship's engine and control system. These field trials were conducted in 2014 on a 224- foot-long, four -powered, 800- horsepower, five-lake training boat. The engine on board is equivalent to the 1984 Tier0 engine. In a series of validation tests including the ISO8178E2 cycle, one of the engines was equipped with an aftertreatment system that met all IMOTier III standards including NOx and SOx emissions. In 2015 , another field trial of the same type of engine was being carried out on a similar training vessel in the Gulf of Mexico. Preliminary test results show that the EPA Tier IV emission requirements are met. In addition to the American Bureau of Shipping, Tenneco 's large-scale engine-selective catalytic reduction system is designed to meet the requirements of other major classification societies including DNVGL Classification Society, Korea Classification Society and Japan Classification Society. Â Â Â Â The modular design of the catalytic reduction system helps seamlessly integrate a wide range of engines and electrical and mechanically controlled engine operations. The durability of the selective catalytic reduction system has been verified and it is easier to maintain and repair all components without the need for special tools. A liquid delivery system with metering control software is capable of managing multiple injections and sensors. The system can support upward flow of up to 120 meters of urea, contributing to a wide portfolio of installation options. Urea injection without ventilation ( purchased from the product library ) can provide high metering accuracy and consistency without the need for specified compressed air.
