Tsinghua Starts Master Program for Scientific Instrument Engineering

On December 12, 2012, the Analytical Instrument Branch of the China Instrument and Instrument Society reported that in order to strengthen the cultivation of the proprietary talents for analytical instruments in China, the Analytical Instrument Branch of the China Instrument and Instrument Society agreed with the Department of Precision Instruments of Tsinghua University and decided to jointly establish a scientific instrument with Tsinghua University in the near future. Master of Engineering (tentative name), the specific notice is as follows:

Announcement on Establishing a Master Program for Scientific Instrument Engineering

In view of the fact that scientific instruments R&D, manufacture and analysis and test personnel are extremely scarce, our branch decided to focus on personnel training as one of the priorities of this session of the Council.

According to the resolution of the eighth session of the Second Board of Directors' Office Meeting, “Exploring the New Mode of Proprietary Talent Cultivation for Analytical Instruments in the New Era.” Formulating effective and proprietary talent training programs to meet the spirit of the shortage of talents in the analytical instrument industry. The Secretariat has worked out a talent training plan for enterprises to enter talents in innovative units and has begun to organize implementation on an item-by-item basis.

Under the personal guidance of Academician Jin Guofan, after consulting with the Department of Precision Instruments of Tsinghua University, it was decided to jointly establish a "Master of Scientific Engineering Engineering" (tentative name) jointly with Tsinghua University. The details are as follows:

First, the recruitment of students: scientific equipment manufacturing companies executives, research and development, engineering and technical personnel and social ambition to join scientific and technical personnel.

Second, the conditions for admission: a national education series of bachelor's degree and bachelor's degree.

3. Entrance Examination: Participate in the National Unified Organizational Entrance Examination (October each year. Exam subjects: Politics, Mathematics, English. The Association will organize targeted counseling in a targeted manner.)

Fourth, the school system: three years (two years of basic theoretical study, one year internship)

Fifth, the teaching methods: the main amateur (teaching on weekends), taking into account the concentrated teaching. Implement a credit system and complete a business.

Six, learning costs: 40,000 (24,000 yuan for tuition, 16,000 yuan for graduation thesis guidance fees, all used for school teaching), the Society will no longer charge any fees.

VII. Curriculum setting: According to the research situation, we can formulate specific courses. In the teaching process, we can make necessary adjustments according to actual needs.

VIII. Location: According to the opinions of Tsinghua University, considering the teaching cost, the first phase of the “Master of Engineering” program was initially established as Beijing. If the amount of enrollment outside Beijing reaches a certain scale or there are specific measures to address the travel expenses of instructors, it may also consider setting up classes in the area.

9. Scheduled opening time: First quarter of 2013 (after winter vacation).

Graduation: Graduates who meet the requirements and have obtained the required credits for the assessment may obtain the completion certificate for the “Scientific Instrument Engineering” of Tsinghua University; pass the national unified entrance exam and meet the requirements of the school to obtain the master’s degree certificate of engineering of Tsinghua University.

Since the National Unified Examination period in 2012 has passed, the first "Master of Engineering" class can be opened in the form of "Scientific Equipment Engineering Refresher Class" (with no change of course) after consultation with Tsinghua University. Students only need to stay in October 2013 or 2014. After participating in the National Unified Examination in October, they can formally transfer to the "Master of Engineering" student at any time.

According to the opinions of the Department of Precision Instruments of Tsinghua University, in order to make the “Master of Engineering” program really effective, it is really to cultivate practical talents for R&D and manufacturing of enterprises. All units and social applicants are invited to “Master of Engineering” according to the needs of their own talents. Specific recommendations are made on concrete issues such as teaching expectations, curriculum, and teaching methods. We will promptly submit the suggestions from various organizations to Tsinghua University and work out a detailed enrollment manual for the Master of Science Equipment Engineering as soon as possible so as to strive for a scheduled schedule.
