Construction of a carbon dioxide degradable plastic project started

On July 31st, with the instruction of Yang Yexin, president of China National Petroleum Corporation (Chemical Corporation), at the construction site, the CNPC CO2 degradable plastics (PPC) project broke ground.

The project started in 2004 for technology development, equipment research and development, market research and product development. The project uses the world's leading patented technology independently researched and developed by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a designed annual production capacity of 3,000 tons (currently the largest in the world is 1,000 tons), with a total investment estimated at RMB 152.2 million. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in June 2008 by CNOOC and The Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly funded construction and was located in Dongfang Chemical City, a CNOOC company. The construction and construction of China Oil One Construction Co., Ltd. is responsible for project construction and production operation management.

The main raw materials of the project are exhaust gas carbon dioxide and propylene oxide. Under the action of the catalyst, carbon dioxide and propylene oxide are copolymerized to produce carbon dioxide degradable plastic. Carbon dioxide degradable plastic is a new type of completely biodegradable high value-added environmental protection product, which can be completely degraded into water and carbon dioxide, has good transparency, degradability, high barrier property, biocompatibility, etc., and is modified by plastics. Processing can be applied to injection molding and extrusion products, textile products and blow molding products, and can replace many non-degradable products used in medicine, food and agriculture. At present, the application technology in the field of disposable medical materials and tableware has basically matured. In the past two years, CNOOC and Jilin Jinyuan North Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Sun Yat-sen University jointly researched and developed medical materials, pharmaceutical packaging, packaging film products, foaming materials, disposable tableware and other products, and successfully produced medical dressings and capsules. Blister and other products. The application of carbon dioxide plastic can reduce “white pollution” and reduce the consumption of oil and gas resources by plastic production.
