Shanghai investigating multiple infringement bearing cases

Counterfeit bearings, like "bad quality foods," will leave security risks for many mechanical equipment. For this reason, Shanghai Customs has increased its crackdown on infringing bearings. In the past three years, it has investigated and dealt with 121 infringing bearing cases with a case value of nearly 11 million yuan. Bearing infringement cases involve most of the well-known bearing brands at home and abroad. Recently, the World Bearing Association (WBA) and the Shanghai Customs jointly held a seminar on intellectual property rights. On behalf of the member companies, they thanked Shanghai Customs and presented a plaque on “Combating counterfeiting and protection of intellectual property”.

As a kind of precision machinery accessories widely used in various types of processing equipment and engineering machinery, the bearing is known as the “food of machinery industry”. Fans, range hoods, as well as trains, ships, and airplanes all use bearings. It is the basis of all machinery, and the quality of the products not only determines the efficiency and stability of equipment operation, but also relates to the safety performance of equipment operation. . Because of the lack of quality and lack of precision, false bearings have very large potential safety hazards, which can result in the complete scrapping of mechanical equipment, and endanger the safety of the use of personnel. However, the low-cost and high-return of bearing fraud has made some criminals take the risk, and it also exposes the bearing industry to the threat of infringement.

In order to cut off the import and export of infringing bearings, Shanghai Customs cooperated with intellectual property rights holders through information sharing, risk analysis, and joint research, etc., and carried out a series of special actions to crack down on infringement of bearings, which protected both knowledge by preventing illegal actions and cracking down on infringements. The legal rights of property rights holders also further purify the bearing market.

Since the second half of 2010, Shanghai Customs has investigated and handled 121 infringement bearing cases and seized more than 800,000 sets of infringing bearings, accounting for about one-third of the total number of customs seizures in China, and the case value was nearly 11 million yuan. The seized bearing infringement cases involved several well-known domestic and foreign bearing brands. It is worth mentioning that Shanghai Customs used risk management concepts to achieve a precise blow to the infringement of imported and imported bearings. Among the 121 infringement bearing cases that were seized, 82 were set up by the customs through scientifically-designed risk parameters and the use of intelligent control measures. The seizures accounted for 67.8% of the total number of cases.
